The Carbon Cycle

What is the carbon cycle?

Most things are here because of carbon being the fourth most prevalent element in the universe. It is in the centre of the earth, the oceans, plants, soil, and the atmosphere.

The movement of carbon throughout the system

Photosynthesis - Strips the carbon from carbon dioxide and is used as energy for the plant to grow.

Food - Animals eat plants and other animals

Death - Plants and animals rot and are consumed and made soil bound by fungi

Energy - Fossil fuels are burned creating carbon dioxide

Life - Animals when respiring animals pass carbon dioxide into the atmosphere
