Section and Elevations drawings

How to draw Section and Elevation Drawings

What is a Section?

Sections cut through objects to show how things work on the inside.  Like on a floor plan where the roof is not shown.  A section shows height. It ONLY shows the information ON the CUT LINE. The ground is usually shown at a fairly thick line weight.

What is an Elevation?

Elevations are used to show the facade.  In particular for architectural drawings, they are labelled with the compass direction it faces e.g. 'West Elevation'.  They will usually not directly face one direction.  Go with whatever it is closest to.
