VECTORWORKS CAD CLASS PROPOSAL

Hi all

WHAT TO DO NOW:

Fill out the form below or give me a call if you would like to talk through your situation.

ONLINE INFORMATION SESSION

It’s a good idea to come along to see whether the class and program would be suitable for your situation.

DATE: Sunday 19th of April

TIME: 7:00pm approximately 45 minutes

RECORDING: LINK to recording

SUMMARY OF INFORMATION SESSION

Thanks to those of you who attended the online session on the weekend.  There is a what to do now paragraph at the bottom of the email.

This is the summary for those that didn't attend with additional information added:

WHO IS IT FOR:  This was a big part of the discussion.  Vectorworks is expensive and I really don't want to sell a course to people that it isn't appropriate for.  I personally feel that it is for people who are doing over 10 jobs a year or atleast or are hoping to get to that quantity as the subscription is around $3,000 per year.  We discussed alternatives which you can see in the recording here.  The summary is that there are other software packages out there at lower price points that you  can become competent in quickly for people who won't use it that often.  They are generally not as efficient as vectorworks in the long run or not as horticulturally relevant. Give me a call if you want to discuss this further. There is a possibility in the future I would do a short course on gCADPlus, SketchUp and LayOut with a Rendering package.

THE COURSE

WHEN: Thursday evenings from 6-9pm.  Hoping to start on the 7th of May.  Will discuss with the group whether we pause over the school holidays.

COST: $60 per person per session with an estimated 12 ($720) sessions but we may change that based on the speed of the group. We discussed the possibility of extra  sessions to do one on one project feedback or doing that outside of the sessions for those that want it.

QUANTITY and PAYMENT: Aiming for approximately 12  or less in the session at a time.  We did discuss either over-enrolling slightly to adjust for people dropping out or have some of the participants pay upfront for the duration of the course and some to pay in 4 week blocks in case they change their mind or their circumstances change.  I can send invoices through my business for the sessions.

INITIAL INTAKE

  • Preference for the first intake will be given to those that contacted me before advertising this course.  I will then try to supplement with students that match that group most closely.

FUTURE INTAKES:

  • If there are sufficient numbers I will run the same course again if the first intake goes well.

  • Based on the questionnaire I am thinking about running an intake for people that already have the software but haven't gotten far or have studied it in the past but stopped using it that moves at a quicker pace pitched at beginner to intermediate.

  • I'm also looking at the possibility of doing a gCADPlus (Cheap program), and a SketchUp and LayOut + Rendering course (3d).

LICENSING:
I have since had a meeting with Vectorworks and they are hoping to supply temporary licenses for the current version of Vectorworks software for the duration of the course.  However, they need to make sure this is possible and will hopefully get back to me next week.
