What is the ‘Potager’ style?

Potager comes from the French language meaning ornamental kitchen garden. Too historically in Australia a garden was something to supplement your diet as well as look good.

  • Enclosure - This could be something formal like a fence or soft like a hedging plant.

  • Garden tool storage - These can be decorative and an extension of your design

Principles

  • A balance between order and chaos - Combining perennial herbs with annual plantings can create a space that looks good throughout the year in the downtime between seasons.
